Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases)
Study of HIV persistence aims to develop a functional cure. This includes discovery of approaches to modulate cell proteins such as APOBEC3s, and translation to proof-of-concept clinical trials.

Research Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases)
My research focuses on molecular evolutionary mechanisms of HIV/SIV/influenza in host defense, antiretroviral drug resistance and genetic variation in HIV, HIV susceptibility to HIV infection and disease progression, and how host genetics and immunity affects HIV/influenza infection and dynamics. Research includes next generation sequencing of HIV and host genes and transcriptome to pursue a detailed genetic interrogation of host and virus interactions and host genes that regulate HIV or influenza infection.
Professor of Medicine (Hospital Medicine)
Kevin is Chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine, Associate Chair for Quality in the Department of Medicine, and Medical Director for Quality for Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He is the founding Director of the Northwestern Medicine Academy for Quality and Safety Improvement (NM AQSI), a professional development program to train leaders in quality improvement. In 2015, AQSI received the Leape Ahead Award from the American Association for Physician Leadership.

Dr. Aline Martin, PhD, MSc, is a graduate of the University Jean Monnet, Saint-Etienne, France, and completed her postdoctoral training at the Jared Grantham Kidney Institute, Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, USA. Dr. Martin conducts basic and translational science research in the area of bone and mineral metabolism disorders and actively mentors undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral trainees. Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiology)
Dr. Susan Kim is an associate professor of medicine. She is the Director of the Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device Clinic. She is also the Director of Cardiac Electrocardiography. Dr. Kim sees patients with heart rhythm disorders including atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, and bradycardia. Therapies for these rhythm disorders include watchful waiting, medication, catheter ablation, and cardiac implantable electronic devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
