American Liver Foundation Academic Debates
Academic debates sponsored by the American Liver Foundation were held February 7 at Northwestern. Mary Rinella, MD of the Division of Hepatology was the organizer.
The Northwestern team of Neehar Parikh (Hepatology Fellow and former Chief Medical Resident) and Felicitas Koller (Transplant Surgery Fellow), led by Daniela Ladner, MD (Transplant Surgery faculty) as mentor, won their debate against the University of Chicago.
The subject was: "Is it ethical to deny transplantation for patients with Acute Alcoholic Hepatitis?"
In the two other competitions, Rush edged Loyola and Cook County beat the University of Michigan.
We had distinguished faculty visitors, including Ana Lok, MD, Chief of the Division of Hepatology at the University of Michigan. Michael Charlton, MD from Mayo Clinic was the moderator.
