Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute

The basic research activities of the division are closely linked to the Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute (FCVRI).  Located on the 12th floor of the Tarry Research and Education Building, this institute focuses on state-of-the-art cardiovascular research using interdepartmental and interdisciplinary approaches.  As part of its mission, it provides leadership, services, and core physical facilities for investigators at the Feinberg School of Medicine and affiliated McGaw Medical Center hospitals. Financial support also is provided for research training, developing faculty investigators, initiating research projects, and sponsoring special programs and visiting scholars.

Originally established in 1988, the FCVRI has been dedicated to pursuing an understanding of the fundamental  molecular and cellular processes underlying cardiovascular disease, the largest contributor to morbidity and mortality in the United States.

The investigators at the FCVRI are exploring complex problems at the vanguard of modern cardiovascular research, including basic cellular signaling pathways and their contributions to disease, the use of stem cells in regenerative medicine, and use of the latest diagnostic and imaging technologies so critical to patient care.
