Application Procedure
Application Information
We appreciate your interest in the Northwestern Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship training program. Those qualified to train with us must successfully complete training within an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency program and secure full medical licensure in the state of Illinois prior to starting their Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship. If applicable, applicants must possess a valid visa and ECFMG certification.
We accept applications via ERAS exclusively and only fill our positions via the NRMP match. Should you plan to apply to us for consideration for our 2013 first-year Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship class, please note that the deadline for which all required documentation must be available for us to download in ERAS is August 17, 2012. The supporting materials that we require in order for an application to be considered complete are:
* A photograph of the candidate.
* Current Curriculum Vitae
* Personal Statement
* Medical School Transcript
* Medical School Dean's Letter (MSPE)
* Internal Medicine Residency Program Director's Letter of Recommendation
* Letters of Recommendation from at least two (2) Hematology/Oncology faculty
members who are familiar with your clerkship experience.
* Transcript of USMLE or COMLEX examination results.
IF APPLICABLE: Photocopies of current visa/residency papers must be mailed to the attention of Kristen N. Wilson (676 N Saint Clair St, Ste 850 / Chicago, IL 60611). This documentation must be received by the deadline. We will consider applicants with J1 visas.
Applications must be complete and available for download via ERAS by the deadline of August 17, 2012. We will not -- under any circumstances -- consider an incomplete submission. Please note that we will download at our discretion several times daily from July 15 through August 17 and we ask that candidates not phone or e-mail to prompt downloading. Likewise, candidates should refer to ERAS for information as to whether their application is complete as per our requirements (see above).
Submissions received or completed after August 17, 2012 will not be reviewed.
Further details, including our Housestaff Manual and a sample training contract, are available on our McGaw Medical Center Graduate Education site.
By mid-September 2012 we will contact all applicants identified for an invitation to interview. Interviews will take place from late-September through the end of November 2012. Due to the large volume of submissions, we ask that candidates not phone or e-mail requesting information regarding their status in our process. We will send an e-mail to every applicant by mid-October in which we will clearly state their standing.
