There are many kinds of arthritis.

The five arthritic diseases that are most prevalent in the US are (starting with the most common):
1) Tendonitis / Bursitis
2) Osteoarthritis (OA)
3) Gout
4) Fibromyalgia
5) Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

Our Division has experience with all of the major forms of arthritic disease.  Some of the other forms of arthritis include:

  • Ankylosing spondylitis (AS)
  • Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR)
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE; often called "lupus")
  • Systemic sclerosis (often called "scleroderma")
  • Vasculitis (such as Wegener's granulomatosis, polyarteritis nodosa, temporal arteritis a.k.a. giant cell arteritis, and many others)

In addition, the Northwestern Scleroderma Program and the Lupus Program at Northwestern University each maintain their own separate website (links will open in a new window)
