Michael Ison, MD, MS, is the Director of the Transplant and Immunocompromised Host Infectious Disease Service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. In his recent interview, Dr. Ison comments on pertinent issues involving pandemic H1N1 Flu virus. “We have the opportunity, through a large number of infections, to do a number of studies that may provide further insight into the pathogenesis as well as optimal preventative and therapeutic interventions for influenza. We are involved with several of these studies here at Northwestern which will contribute to our understanding of the disease, treatment and prevention."
