- Congratulations, 13 East! The Feinberg 13 East Medicine Unit won the 3rd place Patient Satisfaction Traveling Trophy for surveys returned in February. Props to all the residents and attendings from February, Ben Singer (Medical Director), Denise Anderson (Nurse Manager), Lisa McMahon (Care Facilitator), Mara Unterberger (Social Worker), and the entire 13 East staff! One of patient comments: "I am very impressed with level of care by all staff - thank you for making my stay comfortable and not scary at all.”

- October 14, 2010: Farzad Moazed, Collen McEvoy and their team win the Excellence in Process Improvement Award.
- October 03, 2010: Annual golf outing for residents, friends and families.
- October 01, 2010: Residents and co-workers said goodbye to Gina Hollis who has been a housestaff specialist at Northwestern for six years. Good luck, Gina!
- September 23, 2010: Zankhana Raval, MD, presented her poster at 2010 American Society of Nuclear Cardiology Meeting. Her mentors are Drs. Tom Holly and Edwin Wu.
- July 06, 2010: "Right ventricle dimensions significantly predicted mortality in patients with mitral regurgitation who underwent valve surgery, next to only New York Heart Association class in magnitude of impact, according to Venkatesh Y. - June 18, 2010: Each year approximately 50 Young Investigator Awards are presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology. This year, 2 recepients were recent graduates of Northwestern's program! Congratulations to: Neeta Venepalli (Vanderbilt) and Taylor Ortiz (Dana Farber Cancer Center).

- November 13, 2009: U.S. News & World Report ranks Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute’s Heart and Heart Surgery program among the nation’s best and as the highest-rated program in Illinois. The mortality rate and 30-day stroke incidence were 0% for both carotid artery endarterectomy and stenting at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute in 2008.

- September 2, 2009: Patients with the same disease as Senator Edward Kennedy last week are one focus of the new Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute in Chicago. The institute on Northwestern University's downtown medical campus was jointly formed by Northwestern's medical school, its cancer center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
- August 5, 2009: Northwestern Memorial Hospital is highlighted as having the highest Overall Patient Rating of any Chicago hospital, and patient satisfaction scores are significantly above the national average.
- July 16, 2009: Northwestern Memorial Hospital is ranked in 11 of 16 specialties in US News & World Report's Best Hospitals issue.
