My work aims to eliminate health disparities in U.S. Latinos by examining the underlying causes and developing interventions to address them. Since 2007, my colleagues and I have focused on community health workers as a culturally-competent workforce to promote health and prevent disease in this population. Partnered closely with community-based organizations, we have developed and tested community health worker programs to prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease, and most recently diabetes.
