General Internal Medicine

David Baker, MD: Chief, Division of General Internal MedicineDavid Baker, MD: Chief, Division of General Internal MedicineThe Division of General Internal Medicine is composed of a large, dynamic, and diverse group of clinicians, educators, and researchers. Our full-time faculty physicians see patients in the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation (NMFF) clinic. The NMFF clinic has state-of-the-art electronic medical records with nationally-recognized quality and safety improvement programs. We also have an outstanding group of faculty who practice in the Veteran’s Administration, Community Health Centers, and independent practices around Chicago. Our faculty members also play a major role in teaching medical students at the Feinberg School of Medicine and residents in the Department of Medicine. Moreover, they are always working to develop and test innovative teaching methods and tools to help keep our programs at the forefront of medical education. Our researchers strive to increase our understanding of disease, improve quality of care, improve doctor-patient communication and health education, and find ways to reduce disparities in care and make sure that all people get the medical care they need.

The following pages give you more information about the people and programs in the Division of General Internal Medicine. I am proud to be a part of this outstanding group.

Sincerely,

David W. Baker, MD, MPH
