Jeffrey H Barsuk

Professor of Medicine (Hospital Medicine) and Medical Education

Jeffrey H. Barsuk, MD, MS, SFHM is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Medical Education at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was one of the first three hospitalists at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and helped to shape the development of that program which now includes more than 60 hospitalists. Kevin J O'Leary

Professor of Medicine (Hospital Medicine)

Kevin is Chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine, Associate Chair for Quality in the Department of Medicine, and Medical Director for Quality for Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He is the founding Director of the Northwestern Medicine Academy for Quality and Safety Improvement (NM AQSI), a professional development program to train leaders in quality improvement. In 2015, AQSI received the Leape Ahead Award from the American Association for Physician Leadership.

Assistant Professor of Medicine (Hospital Medicine) and Pediatrics

Dr. Ann-Marie Tantoco practices as a med-peds hospitalist in Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

Randy Smith is a career hospitalist and currently serves as Unit Medical Director for Unit 16 West at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He has served as an implementation mentor in four Federally or privately funded multihospital quality improvement programs. His quality improvement experience includes direct involvement in development projects at thirteen hospitals throughout his career, with project focus ranging from prevention of unplanned readmissions, optimization of hospital throughput, design of handover systems and diagnosis notification systems for discharged patients, inpatient medica...

I am a hospital-based physician, in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Northwestern Memorial and Lurie Children's Hospitals. In addition, I serve as key clinical faculty in the Internal Medicine Residency, which affords me the opportunity to further the practice of Evidence-Based Medicine among our trainees.

My clinical practice is focused within an inpatient palliative medicine consultation service comprised of a multidisciplinary team of professionals. I'm working with my colleagues to improve the communication skills of our students, residents, and fellows-- especially with regard to goals of care and advance care planning. We strive to be experts in symptom management for those facing serious illness at any stage and provide a holistic team approach to caring for patients and families.
