The 46th annual Year in Internal Medicine Conference took place at Northwestern Memorial Hospital from January 20 – 22, 2010. The two and a half day conference was directed by two division of general internal medicine physicians and former chief medical residents, course co-directors Aashish Didwania and Daniel Evans. Over 100 internists attended lectures from expert NU teaching faculty. Topics covered include updates in the management of depression, advances in perfusion imaging and a review of c.difficile. infection.
“The conference continues to promote collaboration between departments and the education of primary care physicians with the latest evidence-based medicine” notes Dr. Didwania, course co-director and Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency program.
"In my words as a participant - The Year in Internal Medicine is a review of relavent patient care topics with updates in the most current literature for each topic. Subjects such as acid reflux, prostate cancer screening, mammograms, pap smears, to name a few, were discussed. It is geared towards the practicing clinician to help improve quality of care" notes Dr Ami Desai, one of the presenters.
