Professor of Medicine (Nephrology and Hypertension)
Daniel Batlle MD is the Earle, del Greco, Levin Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University. He has been a Professor of Medicine at Northwestern and past Division Chief for 18 years . His clinical and research interests include acid-base disturbances, electrolyte disorders, hypertension, and diabetic nephropathy. Bench research currently involves the study of the renin angiotensin system and enzymes that degrade angiotensin 2 such as ACE2 and its potential therapeutic use.
Professor of Medicine (Geriatrics), Medical Education and Preventive Medicine
My primary research foci are in the areas of cancer survivorship, cancer pharmacoeconomics, comparative effectiveness analyses, HIV and cancer, and adverse drug reactions in older individuals living with cancer.
Professor of Medicine (General Internal Medicine) and Medical Social Sciences (Outcome and Measurement Science)
My work focuses on 1) the study of cognitive, psychosocial, and health system factors that affect a person's ability to successfully manage health, and 2) the design of practical, scalable interventions to help individuals and families access, understand, and use health information to make appropriate health decisions and adopt recommended behaviors. Our HeLP lab has particular interests in aging, multi-morbidity, medication regimen safety and adherence. Associate Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) and Medical Education
My primary clinical interest is in the care of individuals infected with HIV and the complications of HIV infection, including oppurtunistic infections, cancers and metabolic disease. I also specialize in the care of infections seen in recipients of solid organ and stem cell transplants and the evaluation of persons prior to transplantation. Other specific interests that I have are sexually transmitted infections and fungal infections.

Dr. Robert Cohen is Professor of Medicine and Director of Occupational Lung Disease.Dr. Cohen has practiced clinical pulmonary medicine for more than 30 years and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and has been a Certified NIOSH B-Reader since 1998. Dr. Cohen has a broad background in public health, occupational lung disease and has been an investigator in the area of respiratory disease in populations of occupationally exposed workers.

Research Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases)
My research focuses on molecular evolutionary mechanisms of HIV/SIV/influenza in host defense, antiretroviral drug resistance and genetic variation in HIV, HIV susceptibility to HIV infection and disease progression, and how host genetics and immunity affects HIV/influenza infection and dynamics. Research includes next generation sequencing of HIV and host genes and transcriptome to pursue a detailed genetic interrogation of host and virus interactions and host genes that regulate HIV or influenza infection.
