Daniel R Schimmel, Jr.

Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiology)

Dr. Daniel Schimmel is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University and Hospital practicing interventional cardiology in the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. Dr. Schimmel attended medical school at Rush University and completed residency and fellowship training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. As Chief Medical Resident and Chief Fellow, he was dedicated to research and education. He also holds Master’s degrees in Exercise Science and in Clinical Investigation.

Sanjiv J Shah

Professor of Medicine (Cardiology)

Sanjiv J. Shah, MD is the Neil Stone, MD Professor in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine; Director of the T1 Center for Cardiovascular Therapeutics; and Director of the Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Shah’s clinical expertise and research focuses on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), which is one of the most prevalent cardiovascular diseases and for which there are few proven treatments. Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and Preventive Medicine (Health and Biomedical Informatics)

Dr. Ahmad is an assistant professor of medicine-cardiology and a faculty member in the Center for Health Information Partnerships in Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. He is a practicing advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist and cares for patients across the spectrum of heart failure, including evaluation for and management of ventricular assist devices and heart transplantation. Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology)

Akhil Narang, MD is a cardiologist at Northwestern Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Narang specializes in the use of advanced cardiovascular imaging (echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiac CT) to aid in the diagnosis and management of patients. He is particularly interested in treating patients with structural and valvular heart disease. As the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Dr. Chicos has a busy clinical practice with a broad range of clinical and research interests in the field of Heart Rhythm Disorders.
